Graduate Record Exam
The Graduate Record Exam (also called the GRE) is composed of three different sections: Verbal, Quantitative, and Analytical Writing.
Verbal
Time: 30 minutes
Length: 30 multiple-choice questions
Format: Sentence Completion, Analogy, Reading Comprehension, and Antonym
Content: Tests vocabulary, verbal reasoning skills, and the ability to read with understanding and insight.
Scoring: 200 - 800
Quantitative
Time: 45 minutes
Length: 28 multiple-choice questions
Format: Quantitative Comparison, Problem Solving, and Data Interpretation (graph questions)
Content: Test basic mathematical skills, ability to understand mathematical concepts, and quantitative reasoning skills.
Scoring: 200 - 800
Analytical Writing
Time: 75 minutes
Length: 2 essay prompts
Format: Perspectives on an Issue and Analyze an Argument
Content: Test ability to understand and analyze arguments and to understand and draw logical conclusions.
Scoring: 0 - 6
