The Department of Psychology promotes the discovery, communication, and application of the scientific principles of psychology within the university and the community. The department offers courses and programs suitable for majors, minors, and graduate students interested in psychology and for students majoring in other areas needing or desiring psychological cognates and electives. Courses emphasize the research methodology and data of both human and lower animal behavior as well as its theoretical and applied implications. Students are encouraged to participate in the rigorous search for the how and why of behavior and the identification and potential resolution of significant problems.
The undergraduate major programs in psychology can lead to an Associate of Applied Science, a Bachelor of
Arts or a Bachelor of Science degree.
Students desiring a Bachelor's degree in psychology choose one of four areas of emphasis: general
psychology, graduate school preparation, behavior analysis or
early childhood.
The Department of Psychology offers two options for a Masters Degree. Graduate students may choose between Experimental Psychology and Training, Development and Performance Improvement.
Masters students in Training, Development and Performance Improvement may also earn one year Certificates in Facilitating Training and Performance Improvement.
The Department of Psychology offers minor programs in psychology, child care services, and gender studies.
